Slaughter and May acted as advisers to HM Treasury, working closely with Treasury Legal Advisers, in connection with the administration of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Limited (a subsidiary of the Icelandic bank Kaupthing) and the transfer of its retail deposit book to ING Direct N.V. The transfer was made pursuant to an order under the Banking (Special Provisions) Act 2008.
